Since linear thinking tasks are increasingly being moved to AI agents, that frees up humans to better understand the bigger picture. But it seems likely that systems thinking will become increasingly important in an AI world, as the mode of βthinkingβ and approach is quite different: Systems thinking vs Artificial Intelligence.
Based purely on my own experience, I suspect that many companies are not mature enough to adopt systems thinking to any significant degree. My instinct is also that the companies that do will be the ones to thrive in the world of AI. Any company can now implement AI to do its basic tasks and, given that AI can also be used to generate ideas, strategies, understand business problems, etc, companies will need differentiators if they are to stand out.
Iβve not had the tools and techniques to leverage this way of thinking (I was due to go on a training course last year, but the provider went into administration the week before!), so Iβve been interested to learn about Systems Thinking Models and to consider how to implement β οΈ Systems Thinking in Everyday Work.
Whilst some people regard systems thinking as a modern model, others have traced its origins back through philosophy. See: The Development of Systems Thinking from Philosophy.
